16 NE Collegiate Teams to Compete for Championships in 2 Divisions on February 1-2

With the fast growth and popularity of badminton clubs in the region, university students are now stepping up their game and desiring for a match up with other universities.  This is evident in the participation of 16 collegiate teams from 7 states in the upcoming Northeast Collegiate Team Championships to be held in Boston Badminton, Westborough on Feb 1-2.
The eight Division 1 teams are:
Amherst College, MA
Boston University, MA
Brown University, RI
Cornell University, NY
Drexel University, PA
New York University, NY
Syracuse University, NY
University of Pennsylvania, PA
 
Division 2 teams include:
Columbia University, NY
Loyola University, MD
Middlebury College, VT
Princeton University, NJ
Stony Brook University, NY
University of Connecticut, CT
Worcester Polytechnic Institute, MA
Yale University, CT
 
Other Collegiate teams have indicated their intention to participate next year.
Each Division shall have two pools of four teams.  The four teams shall compete against each of the other teams in round robin format to determine the rank of each team.  Once the pool play is completed, the final positions shall be determined through a playoff among the top two teams of each pool, with the winner of pool A playing the runner-up of pool B and the winner of pool B playing the runner-up of pool A in the semi-final round.    In the final round, the winning teams shall play each other for the first and second place and while the losing teams advance to play each other for third and fourth place.  Trophies will be awarded to the top three teams of each Division and the Champion of Division 1 will receive the Northeast Collegiate Badminton Perpetual Cup.  Thanks to Yonex sponsorship, YONEX Aerosensa 30 (speed 3) shuttlecocks will be used.
