Marblehead High School wins Team Championship
Marblehead High School, lead be team captain Critter Rodts won the Team Championship during the first Massbad High School Team Badminton Championships held at Boston Badminton on Sunday, January 6. The team also included Pan Am Junior Champion (U15 GD, gold) Nicole Frevold. Newton North High School, lead by Xinyin Zhu, came in second. This team is unusual in that there were more female team members, some of whom were stronger than the boys and played the boys events. The Wellesley High School-Advanced Math and Sciences Charter School beat Acton-Boxborough Regional High School to win third place. Top three placers won trophies, Yonex bags, racquets and shuttlecocks (donated by Yonex through USA Badminton). The Massachusetts Badminton Association acknowledges the support of Yonex and USA Badminton and the efforts of the competitive juniors Critter Rodts, Nicole Frevold, Alex Cheng, Jonathan Shee, Jerry Yang, Darren Yang, Jingjing Li, Xinyin Zhu, Kelly Huang, Chris Yee, Melissa Kwan, Anastasia Rastokina, Brianna Wang and Kai Chern for helping to organize, build enthusiasm and train their school teams for competitive badminton.
