MASSBAD TEAM DOUBLES LEAGUE UPDATE
MAUGUS WINS DIVISION A/B CHAMPIONSHIP
Coach Pashupati Paneru lead the Maugus Team to win the 2012 Division A/B Championship. The Maugus Team tied with Boston Express with a 4-1 win record but edged out second place Boston Express Team by points. Boston Falcons placed third, followed by the Swordfish and the Marblehead Youth Badminton (MYB) Teams. The MYB Team started well beating Maugus 6-1 until team captain Nick Vered sustained an injury.
DIVISIONS B/C AND D TO PLAY IN APRIL
The other divisions are scheduled as follows:
Division B/C tournament dates: April 21-22. Registration deadline: April 5.
Division D tournament date: April 28. Registration deadline: April 20.
Everyone is qualified to play these divisions except "A" level players. An "A" level player is defined as a player who has participated in the BITT or the Massbad Doubles League Division A Team Tournament in the last two years.
Division B/C. Last year, there were 9 B Division teams and 10 C Division teams. So we expect to have some 16 B/C teams this year. These teams will be divided into ‘pools’ that will play round robin on Sat, Apr 21. The top two of each pool will move on to play for the Division B Championship on Sun, Apr 22. All other teams will play for the Division C Championship on Apr 22. The B/C drop down format allows C Teams to compete with each other for the Championship without some stronger B team registering for the Division C and knocking out top C Teams.
