160 juniors of various age groups are competing in a pool play format.  Playoffs begin at 5 pm on Sat, Apr 7 and all through Sunday.

Breaking News: Head Coach Andy Coach is USA BADMINTON NATIONAL COACH OF THE YEAR

It is a fitting tribute to an outstanding coach who serves in the Coaching Advisory Group and works with the High Performance Coaching Pool of USA Badminton.  Andy Chong, Head Coach of Boston Badminton, has been chosen as the USA Badminton National Coach of the Year.  He has and continues to be involved nationally with athlete and coach development projects.  In 2011, he served as Team USA Head Coach for the BWF World Championships in London, the Pan Am Junior Championships in Jamaica and the Sudirman Cup in China.  In awarding Andy Chong the 2011 National Coach of the Year, USA Badminton cites:

Boston Badminton-MassBad Collaboration: BADMINTON DEMONSTRATION AT LSR HIGH SCHOOL

The Team was headed by Coach Andy Chong and Massbad President Beth Sopka and assisted by Coach Pashupati Paneru and Lee Chern.  On Feb 13, they conducted demonstrations in 6 badminton classes at the Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School.  Badminton is one of the most popular wellness class in the school, and often has a waiting list, explains Vicky Caburian, one of the badminton teachers in the High School.

Northeast Juniors Shine in Northwest Super Regional Junior Badminton Tournament

The Northwest Super Regional Tournament held last Feb 18-20 in Seattle is one of four most heavily weighted national ranking junior badminton tournaments. Thus many of the top juniors from the East, particularly Massachusetts, participated in this tournament.  Winners will give it their best shot to make it to the US Junior Team or qualify for individual events in the 2012 World or Pan Am Junior Championships when they compete in the upcoming Junior International Trials on Apr 6-8 in Boston Badminton.  These juniors are: Read more »

MASSBAD TEAM DOUBLES LEAGUE UPDATE

MAUGUS WINS DIVISION A/B CHAMPIONSHIP
Coach Pashupati Paneru lead the Maugus Team to win the 2012 Division A/B Championship.  The Maugus Team tied with Boston Express with a 4-1 win record but edged out second place Boston Express Team by points.  Boston Falcons placed third, followed by the Swordfish and the Marblehead Youth Badminton (MYB) Teams.  The MYB Team started well beating Maugus 6-1 until team captain Nick Vered sustained an injury.
