MassBad to Hold First High School Team Championships

 
The Massachusetts Badminton Association (MassBad) announces the 2013 MassBad High School Team Badminton Championships to be held in Boston Badminton located in Westborough on Jan 6, 2013. Registration Deadline: Dec 10
This new event grows out of the rapid increase in the number of young players we have seen in the past several years.   Badminton has been thriving as a recreational and competitive sport in Massachusetts, albeit under the radar screen, for many years.  We currently have several hundred juniors who take lessons and train regularly indoors, approximately 50 of whom compete in junior tournaments. We encourage school administrators and physical education faculty to post information about the tournament and make some gym time available for badminton. Organizers are hoping that the tournament will serve as a catalyst in the formation of high school badminton clubs and teams and that the growing number of competitive badminton players in MA will play a role in advancing badminton in their schools.
